Ford Focus T-Series
There seems to be differing opinions on what these cars exactly were. Some state that these were created as test mules for the then-upcoming focus rs, some say these were just dealer add-on’s sold by mountune. Either way, we do know that mountune did have a hand at creating these.
What we do know, is these cars were made to fill the gap in the performance market as the Escort Cosworth was done in 1996, and the Focus RS was still about 3 years away yet. Three people/companies had their hand in making these cars come to life: Gordon Spooner, Mountune, and DPRS, which lead to these having GMD badges on them. No official numbers were ever released for these, but many enthusiasts in the UK recon that tere were less than 50 of them built between the different trims: T190, T230, T250, and T250R. The numbers in the trim represented their horsepower figures.
The T190 was powered by a 1.8L Zetec, the rest were all 2L Blacktop Zetec’s, but included the same upgrades.
The T190/T230 included the following performance add-ons
- Higher CC injectors (exact specs are not known)
- Piper Valve Springs
- Cosworth MAP Sensor
- Cosworth Boost Sensor
- Cosworth Air Temperature Sensor
- Cosworth Water Temperature Sensor
- Higher Flow Rate Fuel Pump (exact specs are not known)
- Garrett T2 Turbocharger (possibly the Garrett GT2554)
- Pectel T2 Motorsports ECU
- Oil cooler
- Upgraded front and rear suspension
- Cobra Front Reclining seats with matching rear seats
- Your choice of front and rear spoilers
- Your choice of lights (most we have been able to find are using the Morettis)
- Your choice of either 1 or 3 hood vents
- Your choice of Brembo or AP Racing brakes
The T250 included all of the T190/T230 Specs plus the following
- Powerflow Stainless Steel Exhaust
- A fully forged rotating assembly (pistons and rods)
- Twin Lights
- Larger front mount Intercooler
- 18” Wheels
There is also conflicting information on whether these included a Quaife limited slip differential or not.
